Happy Birthday!

Hi everyone, I hope that the start of this holiday weekend is a good one for you!  I also want to wish all my U.S. friends a safe and Happy Fourth of July!

One of the people that works with Ricky asked if I could make a card for her for her nephew's 18th birthday and of course I had to say "YES!" and I knew just the card to make.  A while back, actually five years ago I made a card for Danielle's birthday.  It was a long card that I cut out 18 candles and adhered them to the card.  It was fun, and I've acquired many cut files since that time so I went to work...
Of course at the end of all the candles is a cuppy cake!!  Then I thought I did not have an envelope to put it in so I had to make one.  I didn't get to take a picture of that so you have to trust me, it was cute :)

I thought that I'd pop in and share with you all.  I have worked on some swap cards and I will share those in a couple of days too!  Have a safe and wonderful weekend no matter where you are!

Happy 4th of July!

Ok, I'm a few day's early but I wanted to show you a little something I made for hubby's co-workers.  I love to make little treats for his work family.  So this July 4th I made them some fire works!
I wrapped 5 Rolo's in red paper that was measured 3" x 3 1/4" and secured it with red line tape.  I then took a strip of 1" pattern paper and wrapped it at the top of the roll.  I added a mini glue dot on the inside of the roll to secure a length of red and white bakers twine ~ for the fuse.  The held 3 rolls together with a length of black and white bakers twine.  I am going to make a tag to add to each one, I'm just not sure how I want to secure it though.

These were really quick and easy to make, I hope you like them so much that you want to go buy a bag of Rolo's and make some for your friends!

Have a nice day ~ and a safe and happy 4th of July!!

Die Match Up

Good Afternoon blogging friends!  I hope today finds you well.  It is a gloomy, gloomy day here.  Kind of drizzly.  But I'm not going to complain ~ I'm inside and it is not HOT out :)

I wanted to show you all something that I did to help me a little better with my card making.  Now you all know that I love my Stampin' Up! stuff.  I love how they have the cutting dies to match their stamps!  Well this past weekend at our card class I made a card that called for the stamp set Flower Patch (134207 clear) and the matching Flower Fair Framelits Dies (133731).  Being the kind person that I am ;) I have everyone do their own stamping and I cut the pieces out for them.  Now we did not have many in the class, but there were a few pieces to cut for each person.  I'm not sure if you've ever run into the problem of using a die when you stamp something that is not of a uniform shape or not, but it can be a real pain.

Everyone stamped their images and there were actually 7 pieces each to cut, which was fine because I could cut more than one at a time.  But there were 2 flowers that were giving me trouble.  So when I came home I marked the die and the stamp so I would not have that problem again.
If you can see in the picture I marked the dot on the back side of the stamp and the spot on the die where the stamp matches to.  Once you stamp your image off before lifting the stamp mark the paper with a dot so you know where to place the die.  Easy peasy!!  Trust me, I've used this stamp quite a bit now and it was always frustrating to me when I went to cut it out.  I had to have an "ahhh ha" moment to realize that there had to be an easier way.

Now I'm not to sure how you would do it with an actual wood mount stamp.  Maybe put a dot on the wood at the place where the die would go?

This has worked for me, and I think that it will not be the cause of any more grey hair that pops out.  I hope that it works for you.  If you have any questions just leave me a comment and I'll answer them the best way I can.  Oh and yes, that was one of the cards we made in this past weekend class.

Thanks for stopping by today!  See you soon!!

Pleasant Poppies Birthday

Good evening everyone!  I hope that today found you well.  The past couple of weeks I've been a little busy.  With Mother's Day, then Danielle's birthday ~ she turned 23.  Where has the time gone to?  And then with hubby working last weekend and his only day off we had chores to do.  The planting of his garden.  It is a little small this year, but that's ok.  Gardens are nice to have, we always had them when I was growing up and they are so rewarding.  But with hubby working so many hours they are a lot of work.  I did get some plants for out front and NO I have not killed them yet.  As I knock on wood :) and I did get some herbs I planted out back.  I have already plucked some cilantro for salsa I made this week!

So enough of my babble, I seem to do that a lot.  I'm sure you have not missed that!  I'm on to the card that I made for Danielle's birthday.

The base is a basic white card that I layered with Basic Black and some green pattern paper I had.  I used the Pleasant Poppies SU! background stamp for the main focal image that I layered on to a die cut circle and scallop circle that I cut out with my nesties.  I also colored the images again, hand cut them and pop dotted them on to the card for a little more dimension.  I then added the sentiment "celebrate" that is a foam stamp I had with a small piece of ribbon, button and bakers twine.  Notice the stitching?  This self proclaimed Non-Seamstress actually pulled out the sewing machine and did the stitching all by herself.  Yes, I am proud of it!!

Danielle loves poppies!  She has SO much stuff she's purchased for her house/apartment when she moves that has poppies on it so I knew that she'd like the card.

I wanted to share that with you tonight.  I will be posting cards that I've made for the upcoming class on the 30th.  If your in the area....  I'd love to see you!  And if I don't get back here in the next day or two I hope that you have a safe holiday weekend.

Pinterest Button

Just a quick note to let you know that you can pin anyone of my cards, projects or scrap pages on my site.  Just hover your mouse over the picture and it will allow you to pin it.

Happy pinning!
Happy Cinco de Mayo Everyone!!!  What I wouldn't give for some Mexican food right now :) but it's going to be left over chicken & mashed potatoes night.  Bummer....

I was busy with Jan this weekend helping her out and Monday I didn't feel like getting on the computer so I didn't ~ so that brings me here with your card for the day!
This was another one of the cards I made from our last class.  It's the same card I just different ribbon and turned the DSP around.  It was actually a hit!  I had one girl do this one twice.  That made me feel good.  The DSP is some old SU! paper that I have had for about 3 years now, and the package was not even opened.  I stamped the bird cage and owl from the Aviary stamp set in Chocolate Chip and Daffodil Delight inks and layered them with some (old) YoYo Yellow and Marina Mist papers and pop dotted it to the card.  OH!  I almost forget to mention before you pop dot the focal point you've got to add the ribbon.  Trust me, my first one I had to wiggle it thru with the tweezers.

I'm sitting here in the craft room with the window open, there is a little breeze ~ it's so nice outside.  I think that I just may have to go out there!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great afternoon!!

Another card to share...

Hello everyone, I hope today finds you well.  I've been out for a bit.  I had another eye surgery - I think the last.  Not much hope though, it looks like the sight in my right eye is all but gone.  I never knew that when you have eye surgery it helps contribute to cataracts.  I've not posted on here my health journey of the last 10 months, but this was my 3rd surgery on my eye.  They did take care of the cataracts and replaced the lens but the infection that detached my retina not only damaged the retina but it also attacked the optic nerve.  Thus no sight.  I am still trying to learn how to deal with one eye.  I'm having trouble with my depth perception and the light is a killer.  But I have no choice to live with this and I have to make the most of it.  I can say that it will NOT effect my crafting :)

So that said...  Here is another card.  This I made for the card class that we had last Saturday.
The sentiment is from a SU! set called Word Play.  I really like the basic colors that pop on this card.  The base card is Real Red that I layered with some polka dot paper from Michael's.  The stars are all punched out from various punched and the circle is from one of my smallest nesties.  I added a few rhinestone stars and it was complete.

I do have more to show you from the class, but that will have to wait for another day.

Thanks for stopping by!!

Happy Monday!!

I hope that your weekend was a great one!  Mine was.  I was lucky to spend some time with the kiddo.  We spent the whole day out driving with the windows down, shopping and then a nice lunch.  I miss her.  She has a full time job, school classes,  a Sunday job and baby sit's for a few different people she really is not home much.  So the weather was bea-u-tiful and we had a nice day.  Hubby had to work Saturday but on Sunday we did some of our errands, stopped at Lowe's, mowed for the first time this season and actually pulled the rototiller out - but we were at the end of the day so that will be a project for next weekend, hopefully.

Enough of my babbles.  I want to show you one of the four cards that I've made for the card class coming up on the 25th.  It was super fast and easy, and I used a set I received from the past
Sale-a-bration promo called Big Day.

Once again Blogger is adding my photo's flipped sideway.  Does anyone know why this happens?

Even though it is sideway's I hope you enjoy it.  I hope to be back tomorrow to show you the 2nd card I've done.

Have a great rest of your day!

EDITED TO ADD:
It was driving me crazy how the image was not straight so I went looking and I found some information on it.  I guess it has to do with technology and such.  I found a link that was helpful if you need the information here is the link that I found helpful ~ click HERE.

Easter Blossoms

I think that it is safe to say that the person I made this for will not see this post, so I can show it off to you all! I also would like to say that this card was not my idea ~ I had seen it on Pinterest and I fell in love with it.  It was actually on a blog called Just Judy Designs and if you click here you can find the link.  I have seen many cards that I'd love to CASE however they just never turn out the same, but this one with a little tweek here and there was almost the same.
See...  I knew you'd like it.  Thank You Judy for your inspiration!

I also wanted to let you know that I am in the process of uploading my cards & creations that I've made to my Pinterest board "My Creations".  That way if there is something that you've liked and do not want to scroll thru my blog (of many years and posts) you would be able to probably find it there a little easier.  But I think that this process will take a little bit of time, so once again ~ I ask that you be patient with me.

I hope you all have a great day!

Hippity Hoppity Easter Treat

I thought that I would share with you the treats that I made for hubby to take to his co-workers Friday for Easter.  I love to make things for him to take to work ~ it gives me a purpose instead of just making things for no reason.  I have a whole shelf of those little things I've made and no one to give to or I liked it so much I didn't want to give it away.  I'm sure that you all know what I'm talking about.

I'm sorry for the lighting.  I'm not used to taking pictures in my craft room.  As you all know it's been a while since I've posted and my craft room was moved to a room upstairs so I don't have all those windows and light that I used to have.  I'm going to have to make some type of light box.

I made the sour cream container however I used the measurements I found on the BoBunny website.  I measured the paper at 5" x 6" to create a longer container ~ to resemble a carrot!  They turned out adorable if I say so myself :) The paper is of course BoBunny, both the orange and the green papers.  The tag I made using an old SU! set called Tags so Much, colored it with my prismacolor pencils & gamsol and punched it out with the large and extra large tag punches.  I attached it with some green and white bakers twine and I was done!

For some reason I've always been challenged to make these containers, but I tried and I whipped them out in an evening.  I hope that you enjoyed these, now go make some for yourself.  You still have time before Easter bunny comes.

You were wondering, I know...

You've probably been wondering if I'm still on the face of the earth, right?  Yes, I am.  I guess you can say that I've really been into my crafting much ~ but I do have a new found faith for it.

I just didn't have the time or the ambition.  Really once Mom passed I had a lot of trouble getting into the craft room.  It was something that we did together and my heart was not in it.  Oh, I'd make cards with friends here and there - but I just didn't want to.  Then I went to work.  There was no time.  Hubby is on 2nd shift and I was working a traditional work day.  The time we were together, which was not much I wanted to spend with him.  Then I got pretty sick.  I'm better, but I still have a few more hurdles to jump.

I can say that not working any longer and being home gives me the time to be crafty again.  My hubby did move my craft room a while ago, I'm upstairs now - Mom's old room.  So now when I'm up here I feel more like she's with me.  So with all this being said be on the lookout.  I'm making cards again and it feels good.  Jan and I are doing classes in her basement.  Every 2nd Saturday is a card class and every 4th Saturday is a scrap book class.

Like I said, be on the lookout.  I will start posting again in the very near future...
